| April 22: More progress, and of course, a few setbacks. I got all of the engine done but I came across 2 problems. First, the balancer fit VERY tight and ended up breaking the installation tool when I was trying to push it on a little further. I haven't figured out if it is all the way on yet but I doubt it because when I try to put the pulley on the balancer and then attach the big bolt through both, the bolt doesn't reach the threads on the crankshaft. Second item was the clutch pivot stud on the bellhousing. It's too short per Centerforce's recommendations. Monday I'll get the longer stud and assemble the bellhousing and transmission. April 23: I got the longer clutch pivot ball and installed the bellhousing and transmission. While I was at it I drained the fluid in the tranny first and replaced it with some Valvoline 80-90W. I'm surprised it only took 1 quart. This week I'll address the balancer issue and install engine and trans in the vette. |
