| April 27-29: My dad came up to help with the install and it took a while but we got it in. Talk about shoe-horning it in!!! There was a lot of 'clearancing' needed, mostly on the headers, to make it all fit. As it is, the driver side valve cover is actually against the brake booster. It's going to be very difficult to get the covers off so I'm going to look for some fabricated covers that are angled more on the side to make removing them easier. We weren't able to fire it up this weekend because we had a water leak on the intake manifold that couldn't be fixed in time. For now we fixed the crack on the heater outlet with JB-Weld but we'll have to test it when it dries. It also appears that the balancer has been all the way on all along. I have to space the alternator out to make the pulleys line up properly. Also, the entire assembly is still too tall, even with an L-88 hood, to clear. I think what I'm going to do is just space the filter up so that it seals against the hood with no filter top lid. |

| Engine and tranny are together at last. Now, to fix that pesky balancer. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| Ahhh, the engine is finally in!!! I still can't believe we got it in and with the tranny bolted on too. The driver's side valve cover is actually against the brake booster and the passenger side cover is just below the wiper door actuator. I don't know how I'm going to get those valve covers off! | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| Clearane between the valve cover and brake booster is non-existent. I'm not even sure yet how I'm going to get the valve cover off. I REALLY don't want to have to remove that booster. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| .....more tight clearances. Here's the wiper door actuator and valve cover. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
