Might as well just get right to it.  This is Jim's quickest run, a 9.903 @ 140.47.  Wow!!!  And yes, he still drove it around on the street in Bowling Green.  Scroll down for the rest of us mere mortals.
Joe must have intimidated Jim because this was the scene just before Jim's first 9 second pass.  This was taken moments before Jim's front tires proceed to defy gravity and leave earth for a few seconds.  Notice the rear tires twisting in agony.
And with Jim's suspension and clutch finally all dialed in this is what happens when he drops the hammer.
And here Jim is pulling into the pits with his very first 9 second time slip in his '67.  He was just a wee bit excited....as everybody else was for him.  Mike, on the left,  even cracked a smile.
Uh oh, now Jim's famous.  Here, a kid at the track wanted Jim's autograph and Jim also let him 'drive'.  Well, OK maybe it was just in the kid's head but cool nonetheless.
A peek at the 540 c.i. monster that got him there.  Simple is the key in drag racing.
And some of the rest of us mortals.  Here we have Larry (red Z06) and Chris lined up.
Matt (black C5) and Travis.
